Anti-corruption and transparency activities

Our key team members have been engaged in anti-corruption activities for the past 16 years, earlier within organizations “Společnost přátel přírody” (Society of Friends of Nature) and “Krajské protikorupční pracoviště” (Regional Anti-Corruption Workplace). During this period, we became well recognised organisation, which revealed several underlying cases, with some of them being investigated by police authorities and passed on courts. We are the only organization in the Czech Republic systematically and professionally engaged in the fight against corruption at regional level.

Regional investigative news

One of our key activities is operation of a regional investigative news website www.nasliberec.cz, where we focus on issues related to regional politics and public administration. We call attention to cases of non-systemic and non-transparent conducts, clientelism and corruption. On the website we regularly publish results of our work in form of analyses and commentaries. Unlike other news websites we are not dependent on advertising incomes or political parties.

Efficiency and transparency

Our major topic is efficiency and transparency in public funds management and public procurement. The goal is to gather enough data to be able to statistically process it and present the results to both broad public and the public administration. Based on the outcomes we plan to put in place recommendations to systemic measures leading to more efficient public funds management and procurement in the Czech Republic. Our goal is to map in detail the complex process of public procurement in its relationship to suppliers, all the way from requirement assessment to the work / service delivery and consequent warranty control and create pressure towards more strict control, to secure its transparency and avoid behind-the-scenes lobbying.

Independent analyses

We know how to ask for information and how to force it even if the public administration does not want to provide it. We know how to stand up for citizens and provide professional and legal advice.

We also prepare independent analyses of the working documents of the Liberec Region Council and draw attention of the council members to problematic points on the agenda, which should be further questioned by the council in the interest of transparency and efficiency of the public administration
